Getting an Italian +39 Number, One Checklist at a Time
Yes, you can get an Italy (+39) number with NumberFlare, both for one-off verification codes and as a line you keep. Instant OTP starts from $0.20 per code and charges you only when a code arrives, while an Italian Cloud Number for calls and SMS starts from $1.95/month and is activated on request once our team confirms availability, price and the address or ID check Italian rules may need.
Pre-flight list for an Italian number
Get these four things in place and the rest takes only a few minutes:
- A verified NumberFlare account. Register at /signup and confirm the 6-digit code from your email. Add TOTP two-factor while you are there.
- Money in the wallet. Top up in USD by card, or with USDT or USDC. Buying opens after the first top-up.
- A clear goal. One code for one sign-up, or a +39 number that stays yours for calls and texts?
- The target site ready. Keep its phone-number field on screen so you can paste straight away.
Which platforms send codes to an Italian (+39) number?
Italy is one of our broadest Instant OTP markets, with more than 3,000 services available. A sample:
- Amazon
- TikTok and Snapchat
- Telegram and Signal
- Google (Gmail & YouTube) and Microsoft & Outlook
- Uber and Airbnb
- eBay and Netflix
- ChatGPT (OpenAI)
Coverage depends on what our carrier partners can deliver on a given day, so confirm in the dashboard before you plan around a specific service. All names are trademarks of their owners, and NumberFlare is not connected to these companies.
Walkthrough: from top-up to code in the inbox
- Choose Instant OTP from the dashboard menu.
- Find the service and set Italy as the country.
- Note the price. It differs by service, starting from $0.20 per code.
- Confirm and copy the +39 number you are given.
- Submit it on the service's verification screen.
- Wait on the live inbox. In most cases the code appears within a minute or two.
- Enter the code and complete the sign-up.
No code, no charge: if the 20-minute window passes without a message, your wallet is credited back automatically.
Italian number formats: why the zero sometimes stays
Italy breaks a rule that most European countries follow.
- Mobile numbers start with 3 and have no leading 0, so they look like +39 3XX XXX XXXX in international format. You type them as they are after +39.
- Landline numbers keep their 0 even after the country code. A Rome number, for example, is written +39 06 followed by the rest of the digits.
In a sign-up form, choose Italy (+39) from the country list and enter the remaining digits exactly as the number shows them. Do not add or strip a 0 out of habit from other countries.
Verification texts sent to Italian numbers often come in Italian, so look for the word "codice" (code) next to the digits. If your app is set to English, the message may be in English instead.
Fixing a code that has not shown up
Work down this list:
- Wait the full 20 minutes. Some senders queue their texts.
- Confirm what you entered. Italian mobile numbers start with 3 after +39; an extra 0 in front breaks delivery.
- Press resend once, not five times. Rapid retries can trigger a temporary block on the service's side.
- Check the service's attitude to virtual numbers. Some services refuse them, and Instant OTP refunds automatically for exactly that reason.
- Retry later with a new number. A fresh +39 number at another time may go through.
Because only delivered codes are charged, a failed try leaves your balance untouched.
Requesting an Italian Cloud Number for calls and SMS
When the number has to stay with you, choose a Cloud Number. Italy is available on request, not instantly. Click "Request another country" in the dashboard, and our team confirms availability and price and explains whether Italian rules need an address or identity check before the number goes live. Timing depends on the country. Instant, self-serve numbers exist only for the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
With an Italian Cloud Number you get:
- calling and answering inside Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, no SIM card required
- a dashboard inbox for texts where the number supports SMS, along with call logs and contacts
- forwarding to your mobile, plus voicemail
Plans start from $1.95/month and renew from the wallet; see pricing. Our Italian virtual number page covers the line itself in more detail.
Rule of thumb: Instant OTP for a code you need once, a Cloud Number for anything you will log into again or share with clients.
Who outside Italy wants a +39 number?
- Italians living abroad who keep Italian accounts and family chats going.
- Shops and agencies selling to Italian customers, who often trust a local number more than a foreign one.
- App teams testing Italian-language onboarding and SMS templates.
- Students and remote workers moving to Italy who need to register for apps before getting a local SIM.
- People protecting their personal number from spam and data brokers.
If your business spans neighboring markets too, see France and Switzerland. Whatever the reason, follow each service's terms and keep to one account per real person or company.
