France +33 Numbers: Receive Codes Online or Run a French Line
NumberFlare offers French (+33) numbers in two forms: Instant OTP, which receives one verification code from $0.20 per code, and a French Cloud Number for calls and SMS from $1.95/month. Instant OTP is ready as soon as your wallet is topped up, while a French Cloud Number is set up on request because local rules can require an address or identity check first.
Reading a French number: 06, 07 and the +33 prefix
French numbers have ten digits when written domestically, starting with a 0, and are usually grouped in pairs: 06 XX XX XX XX. The first digits tell you the type of line:
- 06 and 07 are mobile numbers.
- 01 to 05 are geographic landlines, from 01 around Paris to 05 in the southwest.
- 09 is used for internet-based lines.
When a sign-up form asks for a France phone number for verification, the trunk zero has to go. 06 XX XX XX XX becomes +33 6 XX XX XX XX, which is nine digits after the country code. If the form has a country selector, pick France (+33) and type those nine digits. If it has one open box, paste the whole thing beginning with +33.
French is the language of everyday life, so services set to French will often wrap the code in French text. You only need the digits.
Reasons to use a French phone number from abroad
France is one of Europe's largest consumer markets, and a +33 number is useful for more than tourists:
- Selling to French customers. Buyers are often more comfortable calling or texting a number from their own country.
- Remote and distributed teams who need a French contact point without opening an office.
- People who have left France but still keep accounts linked to a French number.
- Product teams testing their own app in French, including how the sign-up flow treats +33 numbers and French-language messages.
For privacy, a second phone number also keeps your personal mobile off marketplaces, delivery apps and newsletters. Follow each platform's terms and keep one account per real person or business.

Receive SMS online in France: the steps
- Open a NumberFlare account and verify your email with the 6-digit code.
- Fund your prepaid USD wallet by card or with USDT or USDC. Buying unlocks after this first top-up, and live prices appear.
- In Instant OTP, set the country to France and choose your service.
- Copy the +33 number and enter it in the service, leaving out the trunk zero.
- Keep an eye on the live inbox. Codes usually come through within a minute or two.
- Enter the code in the service to finish.
You have 20 minutes per number. Instant OTP starts from $0.20 per code, and you are only charged when a code arrives. If the window closes empty, the money returns to your wallet automatically. For a longer walkthrough, see our receive SMS in France guide.
Why a French code might not show up
Most delays have a clear cause. Check these in order:
- Format. A number entered as +33 06 instead of +33 6 can fail without any warning from the service.
- Patience. Let the full 20 minutes pass. Some senders are slow at busy times.
- Virtual-number policies. Some services decline virtual numbers, or only accept them for certain account types. The automatic refund exists for exactly this case.
- A second attempt. After the refund, try again later with a new French number. If your account is not tied to France, a neighbor such as Belgium may be an option.
Repeated resend requests can lead a service to pause verification for a while, so leave a gap between tries.
Getting a French Cloud Number you can keep
A French Cloud Number is on request, never instant. Only the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico are self-serve within seconds. France has rules that can require the end user's address and identity to be verified before a number is activated, so the process runs through our team:
- Choose Request another country in the dashboard, or email [email protected].
- We confirm availability and the price, and tell you which documents, if any, are needed.
- Activation follows once verification is complete. Timing depends on the country and is not fixed.
Once live, the number costs from $1.95/month and includes browser calling in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, forwarding to your mobile, voicemail, call logs and contacts. The line is mainly for voice, and SMS depends on the specific number. It renews from your wallet on the same plan, and it is released after expiry if the balance runs short. Instant OTP or Cloud Number for France?
Think about the life of the account, not just today's sign-up.
- Instant OTP is the right tool for a single code: registering on a platform once, verifying a test account in your own app, or confirming a booking. No paperwork, nothing to renew.
- A Cloud Number fits when the number has to keep working: a customer line for French clients, a number printed on invoices, or a login you will confirm by phone again.
If you would be stuck without the number in six months, choose the Cloud Number.
