Austria (+43) Virtual Numbers: Pick a One-Time Code or a Lasting Line
With NumberFlare you can get an Austria (+43) number for a single verification code through Instant OTP, from $0.20 per code and charged only when the code is delivered. If you need a number for calls and SMS over time, request an Austrian Cloud Number, from $1.95/month, which our team activates after confirming availability, price and any address or ID check.
Deciding between a single code and a permanent Austrian number
Think about what happens after you type in the code. If the account will never ask for that number again, you only need Instant OTP. If it will, you need something that lasts.
Choose Instant OTP when:
- you are confirming a one-time sign-up and do not want to share your personal number
- you are testing your own app's registration flow with an Austrian number
- you want to pay only if the SMS arrives (from $0.20 per code, refunded otherwise)
Choose a Cloud Number when:
- the account uses SMS for later logins or recovery
- you want customers in Austria to call or text a +43 number
- you need voicemail, call forwarding and a shared SMS inbox
Cloud Numbers start from $1.95/month. For Austria they are provided on request, not instantly, because local rules can involve verification before activation.
Which platforms accept an Austrian number for OTP?
Instant OTP in Austria covers more than 1,800 services at the moment. You will find WhatsApp, Telegram, Microsoft & Outlook, LinkedIn, Google (Gmail & YouTube), Amazon, eBay, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Signal, ChatGPT (OpenAI), Claude, Netflix and Uber among them.
Because this is a live list, a service visible today may be paused tomorrow and come back later. Open the dashboard to see what is available now and the price for each service. Prices appear after your first top-up and before you commit.
NumberFlare is independent of all these platforms, and each name is a trademark of its owner. Stick to the terms of every service you sign up for.
How the Austrian Instant OTP flow works
- Sign up with your email address and type in the 6-digit confirmation code.
- Top up your wallet once to unlock purchases.
- Select the service you are registering with, then select Austria.
- Accept the price shown. A +43 number appears on screen.
- Paste it into the service and request the SMS.
- The code lands in your live inbox, normally within a minute or two.
Your number stays active for 20 minutes. If no code reaches it in that time, the full amount returns to your wallet automatically. Ready to try? Start at /signup.
When an Austrian SMS code is late or missing
Patience solves more cases than you might expect. Let the 20-minute window run before you conclude anything, and avoid pressing "send again" several times, since many services pause SMS after repeat attempts.
Still nothing? Work through this list:
- Format. Was +43 selected, and did you leave out the leading 0?
- Acceptance. Does the service accept virtual numbers at all? Some do not, and that is the reason failed codes are refunded.
- Retry. Once the refund lands, wait a while and request a new number for the same service.
If a particular service rejects every attempt, it is likely filtering virtual numbers, and a Cloud Number request may be the more practical path.
Getting an Austrian Cloud Number on request
Instant, self-serve Cloud Numbers are only offered for the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. To get an Austrian one, click Request another country in the dashboard or contact [email protected].
We confirm three things with you: whether our carrier partners can provide a number, what it will cost and whether Austrian rules require an address or ID check. The number is activated after any verification. How long that takes depends on the local process, so there is no fixed timeline.
With the number active, you get calling in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari without an app or SIM, an SMS inbox where the number supports texts, call logs, contacts, forwarding to your mobile and voicemail. It renews from your wallet on the same plan. Starting prices are on /pricing.
Austrian number formats: +43, the trunk zero and 06 mobile prefixes
Austrian numbers look a little irregular to outsiders, because they do not all have the same length. A few patterns help:
- Mobile numbers start with 06 when dialed inside Austria, for example 0664 or 0676 followed by the subscriber digits.
- Vienna landlines use the area code 01, which becomes +43 1 in international format.
- In every case, the leading 0 is dropped after +43.
So a local mobile written as 0664 and then the rest becomes +43 664 and the rest. In a form with a country selector set to Austria, begin with the 6, not the 0.
German is the official language nationwide, so codes sent to Austrian numbers often come in German, with phrases like "Ihr Code" or "Bestätigungscode". The digits are all you need to copy.
Why people outside Austria want a +43 number
Companies selling across the German-speaking market often want a local presence in each country, and an Austrian number reads as more approachable to local customers than a foreign one. A Cloud Number with forwarding lets a remote team handle those calls from anywhere.
Austrians working abroad sometimes keep a +43 number for local accounts. Developers localizing an app for Austria test their sign-up forms against the variable-length format. And anyone can use a second phone number to keep a private SIM private. For neighboring markets, see Germany and Switzerland.
Wallet top-ups by card or crypto
NumberFlare charges everything to a prepaid USD wallet. Top up by card, or with USDT or USDC on several networks. For crypto, the amount must match the one shown exactly, including decimals, on the network you selected. It is credited after confirmation.
Your balance is used first at checkout. PDF invoices are emailed automatically, and two-factor authentication is available to protect your account.
